Groundbreaking Compost

It’s a morning of Groundbreaking Compost!  Join us on Friday, July 24th for an interactive, curiosity-filled experience where young scientists dig into the world beneath their feet—exploring soil + compost up close with our friends from Metro Waste Authority. Using real microscopes (just like scientists use!), children will work together to compare regular soil and compost, discovering what makes them different and why compost is such a powerful helper in the garden. It’s a hands-on way to see how tiny changes can make a big impact on growing healthy plants. Our friends from the West Des Moines Public Library will join us for a fun, garden-themed storytime. It’s science, discovery, and a little bit of getting-your-hands-dirty fun—all rolled into one unforgettable Farm School experience.
