In this hands-on workshoppe, guests will learn to create three irresistible seasonal hand pies completely from scratch, from mixing a tender, all-butter flaky pie dough to preparing flavorful homemade fruit fillings and assembling beautifully golden pastries.Throughout the class, Mary will share her favorite techniques for working with pie dough, balancing seasonal fruit fillings, and creating bakery-worthy hand pies with confidence. She'll also demonstrate simple finishing touches + charming plating ideas that make these little treats perfect for holiday gatherings, hostess gifts, or a quiet afternoon with a cup of coffee.
Whether you're an experienced baker or trying homemade pastry for the first time, this workshoppe is designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and full of delicious inspiration. Guests will leave with recipes, newfound baking confidence, and a box filled with freshly baked hand pies to enjoy at home. Mary Sanigular is a classically trained Pastry Chef and Baker. Her excitement to create in the kitchen began as a little girl. Captivated by French pâtisseries through her European adventures, she would often be found creating culinary concoctions with her family. Pulling inspiration from the exceptional cooks in her life. Her vibrate food memories whisked her away to pursue a Baking and Pastry Degree through the Culinary Institute at The Art Institute of Denver where she was able to master techniques and expand her skillset.
She has worked in a variety of hospitality jobs from summer camp kitchens, food styling/assisting for a publications, catering for weddings/ special events, baking sourdough bread in a local micro bakery, and leading pastry teams in a restaurant setting. Mary has been featured as one of Iowa Restaurant Associations 2022 40 Women to Watch in Hospitality honorees, and helping her pastry team receive many Best Desserts of Story County awards.
She is an Iowa native with rich German heritage. A wife and mother to three beautiful children. She enjoys creating beautiful food with fresh, seasonal ingredients that bridge the gap between delicious bites while nourishing the body. As an avid learner she is continuously honing in on new skills and is passionate about sharing all she’s learned with others. Her hope is to empower, encourage, and help others re-create long lasting memories in the playground that is their kitchens with skills to feel confident and playful.
