
Take a culinary trip to Rose Farm, inspired by France, as we learn how to make a classic French pastry, Mille-Feuille. Guests will also learn more about France and French pastries. During the workshoppe, guests will roll up their sleeves and assemble, bake, and fill individual Strawberries & Cream Mille-Feuille to take home + enjoy. A complimentary beverage is included.
Adam Schonert is a senior at Iowa State University pursuing a Bachelor of Food Science and Master of Business Administration. Adam has a strong passion for baking, science, and teaching and loves offering classes at Rose Farm. Adam and his wife Sophia currently own Schonert’s Patisserie, a home-licensed bakery that offers various baked goods. They are especially known for pastries, pies, cheesecakes, cakes, and pour-over coffee. Adam has extensive experience developing new products in the food industry.
Last summer, Adam was the QA Intern at Barilla. In this role, he had the opportunity to develop food safety plans, learn about commercial pasta production, and eat lots of free pasta! During the summer of 2020, Adam served as the Bakery R&D Intern at Newly Weds Food in Chicago, IL. During his role, he was able to develop a new product line for the company. During the summer of 2019, Adam was the R&D Intern at Country Maid Inc. in West Bend, IA. During his experience, he was able to develop new product lines and flavorings. Adam had been acknowledged many times for his ability to develop new food products. In 2018, Adam worked at The Chocolate Season in Algona, Iowa, where The Food Network rated his waffle menu “The Best in Iowa”.
He was also a finalist in the National Dairy Council New Product Competition in 2019. You’ll typically see Adam and Sophia at the farm teaching a class, lending a hand, or brewing pour-over coffee. After taking a class at Rose Farm with Adam, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the product, culinary techniques, and a new passion for baking.
